Mail in inbox gone after upgrade

Post by swifty » Thu Oct 01, 2015 9:13 am

After upgrading to El Capitan (which was successful), I discovered that all the mail in my inbox was deleted. I was starting fresh apparently. Any suggestions on how to restore what was in the inbox before the upgrade. Thanks.

Eureka! After some experimentation, I clicked on Mailbox and found the Rebuild option for inbox. And the same for sent. All is now well.

As a backup strategy, you can set your e-mail server to keep mail for 1 week (for example) before deleting. This guards against issues in Mail and accidental trashing of mail.
