Backup Updates to Update your Backups

Post by Stephen Hart » Sat Jan 14, 2017 12:04 pm

Hands On: SuperDuper! 2.9.1 backup tool updated for macOS Sierra

Carbon Copy Cloner has also been updated for macOS Sierra.

Even though I've found Time Machine to be entirely reliable,* I still like to keep a bootable backup of each of our iMacs. I do this on one of my many older full-sized external hard drives, so there's no cost except time.

* I have three mini-sized external drives for Time Machine. Two at a time are connected, so Time Machine backs up to one, then the other, etc. I set one aside when it's full, and cycle in a newly erased one. The mini-sized drives are much quieter than full-sized drives.

I too like having both a Time Machine and Super Duper backups. My Super Duper 2.9.1 is working just fine with Sierra ... having four weekly bootable backups.
