All went smoothly for me using Software Update.

No problems with anything.

Everything fine here too, unless you count the molten aluminum dripping from the back of my iMac. And a few flames.

There is some discussion on MacInTouch about older programs (games for one) not running after upgrading to 10.6.8. One person was speculating that Apple was getting folks prepared for Lion and the 10.6.8 system won't run the old things that were using Rosetta in 10.6.7. Has anyone experienced this with older apps or peripherals? People were commenting on printers pausing, etc.

I chose to not bring over older applications when I bought the new iMac a month ago. I'll keep my G5 tower on the workbench in the garage should I need them. I haven't found the need for a home printer in over 3 years so no need to upgrade printer drivers.

I suspect that's a rumor based on Apple's announcement that 10.6.8 updates the Mac App Store for the advent of Lion. I haven't seen any hint that there's any reason for this minor update to cause any problems.

Just successfully downloaded/installed 10.6.8 and Java update via "Apple>Software Update" onto a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo purchased late 2009. Everything seems to be working fine. I quickly tested my old printer and it still works. My old Microsoft Office Mac X suite still works.
