Calendar problem
I'm trying to help a friend with her iPad calendar. Here's the issue: when we enter a new event on her iPad calendar, it shows up on her iPhone (as it should,) but it doesn't appear on her iPad calendar. When we enter a new event on her iPhone calendar, the event shows up correctly on both devices. What might cause this?

Re: Calendar problem
Sorry, I'm confused.
You create a new event on the iPad in the Calendar app. And then it disappears?

Re: Calendar problem
Not quite. I create a new event on the iPad using the iOS calendar app (in the "pop down" menu.) But when I click "add," the event never appears on the iPad calendar, but it syncs to the phone, and shows up there just fine.
An event entered on the iPhone shows up on both the iPhone and the iPad.
There is probably some simple setting somewhere that's causing this.

Does the some thing happen in all views? It seems to work fine for me in any view.KarenColes wrote:Not quite. I create a new event on the iPad using the iOS calendar app (in the "pop down" menu.) So you click the plus at the upper right, enter an event (title appears to be necessary) but it doesn't show when you click Add? I would think if there's some syncing problem that it would show when you create it, but then disappear later.
Have you restarted the iPad?

The view doesn't matter. It never shows up on the iPad in any view. I assumed a syncing problem, too. But the syncing seems to work fine when an event is entered on the iPhone. That seems to be the only way to get an event to show up on the iPad. Seems very strange to me. I'm not sure if we tried restarting the iPad or not. When I see her Monday, we'll be sure to do that.

Re: Calendar problem
On the iPad at the bottom/middle of the Calendar app you'll see Calendars. You can have multiple calendars. The calendars that will be displayed have check marks by them. When you create an event you either accept the default calendar or you can change from default to another calendar.
If you're creating an event and select a calendar that's not been checked off to display then you won't see it on the iPad app. If you have the calendar selected on your iPhone you will.
Of course this doesn't explain how creating the event on the iPhone version of Calendar allows it to show up on the iPad version.

Re: Calendar problem
Actually, it could.Richard Serkes wrote:Of course this doesn't explain how creating the event on the iPhone version of Calendar allows it to show up on the iPad version.
Suppose that the iPad does not have Calendar A checked, and an event was created on the iPad and designated as a Calendar A event. The event would not show up on the iPad, but would on the iPhone ... supposing that Calendar A was checked to show up on the iPhone.
Now, if the iPhone happens to have both Calendar A and Calendar B checked, and an event was created on the iPhone and designated as a Calendar B event, it would show up on both devices ... assuming that the iPhone also had Calendar B checked.
It's elementary, my dear Serkes. Case solved.
