The bug in 8.0.1 is fixed. Other bugs also fixed.

It seems fine on my iPhone 6. I'm downloading the update for my iPad.
My iPhone is still showing in iTunes after this morning's update and restart, but I won't know if that issue was solved in 8.0.2 for another day or two.
