iPhone Duplicate US Holidays

Post by Stephen Hart » Wed Jun 01, 2011 4:31 pm

This only happens on my iPhone, but I've got a duplicate of US Holidays. No problem on all the Macs I'm syncing with.
Any clues?

Are you syncing with Entourage? If so, the problem may be originating there.

I am syncing with MobileMe, and don't get any holidays showing on my iPhone ... even though I do have them on my Mac. So, go figure.

Here is something that you could try to fix it: http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Business/D ... ates.shtml

My original message was unclear. What I mean is that I seem to be subscribed to US Holidays twice on my phone, but only once in iCal on my Mac.
I'm syncing through MobileMe.

With the new MobileMe calendar system you can have iCal display your "On My Mac" calendars as well as your MobileMe calendars. Yes, there are two sets of calendars.

You probably have just one set of calendars being displayed in iCal but all of them being displayed on your iPhone. Just go back to your iPhone and check off the calendars you want displayed.

Another option is to delete all you "On My Mac" calendars in iCal and then re-sync your iPhone through iTunes. This will remove your "On My Mac" calendars from your iPhone leaving only the MobileMe calendars to be shared/synced. But if you plan on dropping MobileMe any time soon this wouldn't be a good idea. You'll lose your calendars.

I don't think Apple did a very good job with this when it changed the iCal calendar a few months ago.

It is the case that the US Holidays calendar on my Mac is On My Mac. (I can see that by using Get Info.)
I'm guessing that the iPhone just has two subscriptions to this calendar. But I don't see any way to delete only one of them.

Is there a way to get US Holidays via Mobile Me?

Here's how I have things set now. Note from my image above that I have one of the US Holidays iterations unchecked on the iPhone, so I don't see any duplicates.

This is one of those times when it would be a lot easier to fix if the iMac and iPhone were both in front of me. Perhaps someone else can figure this out long distance. Sorry.
