If any SMUG member has a specific question, post it here and I'll try to answer during the demonstration.
After the demo, I'll post a list of links.

So I want to apologize to all the SMUG members who showed up only to see me flail away at failing technology.

With the help of some folks at Macintouch and the NOLS IT guru, I've tracked down what went wrong: NOLS blocks some WiFi "ports" that are required for AirPlay to work.
I think I know what is going on, and will try to test the system so that in the future, SMUG demos can use an Apple TV to show what's on an iPhone or iPad by way of the projector.

Meanwhile, here's the Apple page on AirPlay.

The July 2013 Macworld magazine has an article detailing how to set up AirPlay.
