iPad Mini Virtual Keyboard

Post by Richard Serkes » Tue Oct 23, 2012 1:42 pm

I've been trying to find a photo or mock up of the mini's virtual keyboard but can't seem to find anything. It took some getting used to to use the full sized iPad's keyboard and I'm guessing the mini's keyboard will be even smaller.

Before I fork over a bunch of money for this thing I want to play with it to see if typing is at all possible.

If you can "type" on an iPhone, I'm sure you'll be able to "type" on an iPad mini!

The Tacoma Apple Store is just a little over two hours away...

No, I can't type on an iPhone. I have to use my pinky finger and go very slowly.

I just hunt and peck on my iPhone. But I can do it without reading glasses, for shopping lists and such. And I can use my index finger, usually. For me, it's not the finger size, it's how much callus I have.

I've seen people who can do two-thumb typing on an iPhone.

iPads can pair easily with an Apple BlueTooth keyboard, for really efficient typing--or at least as efficient as I can type on my iMac.

I just watched the 4:04 minute video on the Apple website that introduces the new iPad Mini. You have to look fast but for about 1.5 seconds of screen time you see a Mini held in what appears to be a man's hands and he's using his thumbs to type. That seems awkward to me.

But I still want to play with one before I make up my mind.
