iPad Weather App Recommendations

The iPhone comes with a nice, simple Weather app. In iOS 5, it's been improved by adding hourly forecasts.

The iPad doesn't come with that weather app.

Any SMUG recommendations on a replacement?

The Weather Channel for iPad works for me.

After trying WeatherBug (way too complex), we installed TWC. I agree that it's much more attractive. (The iPhone app is from TWC.)
Can you pay to get rid of the ads?

Yes, you can get rid of the ads in TWC but you have to pay for the ad free version.

I like WeatherBug. I'm not sure why you find it complicated but if you say it's complicated for you it must be. The satellite and radar displays are quite good but the forecast for both Sequim and Port Angeles is really the forecast for the coast. So when I want to check the radar I use WeatherBug but when I want a reasonably accurate forecast I go to TWC.

Check out Intellicast HD. It's interesting.

Excellent. I don't mind paying to remove ads in an app that's good.

The weather app is not for me, it's for my mother in law, who doesn't need, nor want, nor can she cope with, a complex weather app. This all started when I realized her iPad 2 doesn't have the simple and elegant weather app that comes with the iPhone.

Me, I need a weather app that's even simpler than the TWC app for iPad. The one on my iPhone is perfect: temperature, an icon for the weather, and now, hourly predictions. That's all I want on my phone.

TWC app has just been revised. There's a lot more eye candy and the data are easier to read.

Richard is correct. The Weather Channel for iPad (v. 3.0) has been given a significant facelift (see first screenshot).

Just tap on one of the days in the 5 day forecast and hourly forecasts are revealed (see second screenshot).

And yes, The Weather Channel for iPad v3.0 does include local radar (see screenshot).
