Here's a tip. Make your own eBooks

I just did something I thought was cool.

First download the iBooks app and put it on your iPhone.

I found some good information on computer stuff that I wanted to have on my iphone. Mistakenly, I first made it as a PDF and put that on my iPhone, but reading the PDF was a hassle because to make it large enough to read it was WAY TO WIDE and I had to scroll back and forth.

So next I copied and pasted that info in Pages. Then I used the File>Export command and saved it to my desktop as an eBook. I then dragged that ebook into my iTunes Books library (turn that feature on in the iTunes preferences). Then I synced to the iPhone. WA LA!

My very own eBook now shows up in my iBooks library on the iphone and i can swipe to turn the pages and read everything very legibly.

You could copy info from the web or other sources and make them into eBooks for your iPhone if you wanted that info always with you.

Pretty handy.

GoodReader also does pdf reflow, sort of like the Reader button in Safari. Here's a screenshot:

And if you need more ePub features than Pages offers, you might try the free Calibre.

There's an article on making ePub books in the January 2012 Macworld.

Here's a version of the article. This appears to be a previous, perhaps shorter version.

Both contain links to Automator actions and services that you can download.

A lot of content would be improved by converting to ePub and reading in iBooks. iBooks is my iPhone reader of choice.

And here's another tutorial on using Automator in Lion to make ePub books. Looks pretty thorough.
