Here's an article saying that Safeway is rolling out ApplePay last month.

Once when I was in Safeway (Lincoln), a checker exclaimed that at a nearby check stand a customer had used ApplePay and it just worked. But I didn't witness the event. I've never seen anyone using it there.
How have SMUGgers been using ApplePay locally?
Does it seem more convenient than just pulling out your default credit card?

Re: ApplePay
I have used Apple Pay at Walgreens, Starbucks, and McDonalds ... all in Sequim. Works great using either iPhone or Apple Watch.
