iTunes 12.4 and Devices

Post by Stephen Hart » Sat May 28, 2016 5:55 pm

iTunes 12.4 introduced some changes in the display, and one has me stumped.

If you have the sidebar showing, there's a Devices section. But it doesn't do anything, as far as I can tell. To actually select and do anything with a device, you need to select the device from the bar above.

Anyone have an idea why Devices show up in the sidebar?

(Oh, and by the way, my iPad Pro has disappeared from the iTunes device list many times recently. This has not happened since I bought it.)

Have you tried clicking on the disclosure triangles, or even just clicking on the device name?
The sidebar then should display the categories of the device content. (see screenshot)
Clicking on one of the categories then shows content as a list.

In this way you can select content from a device, rather than from iTunes itself.

Right. That shows you what's on the device, but you can't do anything with the lists.
