There is a piece circulating on the internet about smartphone cyber crime and warning people to uninstall, and do a factory reset of their smartphone, if they have installed a flashlight app. The video commentator says that the top 10 flashlight apps downloaded from the Google app store installs malware that tracks your phone and collects personal information. Has anyone heard of this and is it correct?

I am guessing that the iphone is not affected since it is an app installed by Apple. Is my guess correct?

Since no one has weighed in on this question, am I safe in assuming that this is not a real security problem?

So basically, what I see is "Android, Android, Android..." And even there, the story is bogus, bogus, bogus.

Apple has a built-in flashlight app. Use that.
