Siri can't answer the iPhone?

I've researched this a bit, and thought I'd throw it open to the SMUG brain trust.

I listen to podcasts, iTunes U, audiobooks and now, occasionally, iTunes Radio while driving.
My iPhone is sitting on a nonslip pad on the center console, and for my car, needs to be physically plugged in to the Aux input on the radio.

If I get a phone call, apparently, I can't summon Siri with the Home button and say something like "Answer with Speakerphone."
I tested this at home once, and could not summon Siri with the Home button when the iPhone was ringing.

This seems like a safe method of using the phone while driving, so it's hard to understand why Apple wouldn't include it in Siri's bag of tricks.

I suppose I could establish a workaround of asking Siri to send a text message to the last caller. I haven't tried that. Also doing that hands free might require several steps so you don't inadvertently send the message to the wrong person.

Any SMUG advice?

Is it because Verizon iPhone won't do simultaneous voice and data?

You could change Settings>general>accessibility>incoming calls and set it to Speaker while driving.

Interesting idea, but that's all or none.
You may be right about the Verizon data vs voice concept.
