A case for Jay

We drove up to the Obstruction Point parking area today, and it was crowded.

As we walked along the last bit of gravel road from where we could park--and I have to say, for anyone not familiar with that road, that when I say "gravel," I mean chunks from 0.5 to 6 inches long--I looked down and saw an Apple logo. It was a 4th generation iPod Shuffle, and it had not only been dropped, but had obviously been driven over at least once.

It was turned off when I found it. The power light comes on, but I can't get anything from the earphones. (I had to fix the slightly crushed earphone jack.) (iFixit has teardown instructions, for the adventurous, and by "adventurous," I mean Jay.)

If anyone has the proprietary cord for this model iPod, maybe we could find out if it's just low on battery, or see what's on it. It would be a great Apple testimonial if it still works (think Timex ads).

We might even find the original owner, from the serial number:
