Photoshop CS 6 Preview

Post by Stephen Hart » Thu Mar 22, 2012 10:14 am

Here's a video demo of some of the features coming up in Photoshop.
One notable thing is the inclusion of video editing. I'm just a rank beginner in video, but it looks kind of like iMovie built into Photoshop.

You can download a free copy of the current beta version to play with but it won't work after the final version is released. Be aware that this is a very large file. One report I read says it's about 1GB in size.

I should note, in case anyone's interested, that we have CS 5, and the content-aware fill is amazing... sometimes. In 5, you can erase objects and the app will try to fill the space. If the object is too close to other contrasty objects, errors occur.

The straighten tool in CS 5 is also an incredible time saver. In 5, you draw a line somewhere with the ruler, then click straighten.

The improvements in CS 6 in both of these features look worthwhile. We'll be buying the education version.
