Thunderbird v10.0.2

Post by Richard Serkes » Sun Feb 26, 2012 1:51 pm

Mozilla has recently released a new version of its email client, Thunderbird. As it has the same version number as the newest release of Firefox it seems as if Mozilla is linking these two programs in an intimate way. I wonder what's up Mozilla's sleeve?

Anyway, the new version of Thunderbird now addresses my biggest concern about the previous versions; namely, Thunderbird didn't coordinate with the Mac Address Book. It kept and maintained a separate list of email addresses. This is no longer the case. The new Thunderbird now integrates its address book with the Mac Address Book which is nice if you use multiple Macs and critical if you use iCloud's online email client.

After just a cursory examination of the new Thunderbird it isn't as elegant as Mail but there are a lot more options you can select giving the end user much more control over how the program will work. So if you want pretty, go with Mail. If you want control try the new Thunderbird.
