Brightness of screen control

Post by Ed Grier » Wed Oct 19, 2011 9:40 am

Help. My computer has a half bright screen. When it first starts up it is bright, but drops within seconds.
F2 used to brighten it, but not now. Neither does command F2 or shift command F2.
Under universal access I tried ^ shift command> but it seemingly does not make a change.

Check the three System Preference settings shown below.

You may have have display sleep set to a short time, and the display is reducing brightness before it goes to sleep.

You might have your keyboard settings to require the fn key to be pressed while clicking to get the F key labeled actions.

Finally, if this happens right during startup, you may just have your screen brightness set low. That setting takes effect late during startup.
