The book your pre-ordered, Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson, is now available.

I've already read the cast of characters and the author's description of how this book came to be. I'm off to be embraced in the arms of Morpheus and will begin Chapter 1 tomorrow.

Quite a cast of characters. I didn't plow through that part. It being an e-book, I assume I'll be able to dip into the cast when needed.

I'm finding the Isaacson book excellent. I've read a lot about Apple in the past, so it's mostly the personal things that are new to me.

One thing I learned, though, seems important.

We've all read about how Steve Jobs "stole" the idea for the Mac from Xerox PARC. And Bill Gates' claim that both Apple and Microsoft stole from XeroxPARC.
And most of us have read the debunking of that narrative: Apple vastly expanded on the ideas being developed at PARC. And Apple aimed to produce a truly personal computer, while Xerox went on to produce a $16,000 lame behemoth.

But what I found new was that Jobs paid for the visit to PARC. Xerox wanted to buy a big chunk of Apple stock. Jobs offered them a good price in exchange for a visit to see what was going on at PARC. Xerox earned a pretty penny on their investment.

Thanks for posting that Jay. It's a nice counterpoint to the Isaacson biography.

Another very interesting article about Steve Jobs' diet and cause of death is here: http://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2011nl/nov/jobs.htm
