Boy, did a big goof somehow again....
lost parts of ilife...iphoto, preview, address book...the icons on the dock but will not open, gets a question mark over them, and can not find any icon for iphoto under applications...does not appear anywhere.
Is it all gone?

Someone playing with the computer that shouldn't have? Did you do a search on the computer for the missing apps, are they in the trash? They didn't walk off by themselves. If you find them in the trash just move them back to the applications folder.

not in trash...maybe they were at one time? Have looked all over for the missing apps.
I am not worried about the missing items but just want to get the programs back up. Will I have to buy a new ilife?

Did the missing apps come with your computer? Do you have the discs? What model Mac and what Operating System are you using?
Instructions that might help:

I have been looking all over for my discs. They seem to be missing also.
I have a MacBook Pro. I bought it in May. It has Snow Leopard on it.

Do you have Time Machine running to an external backup?
Do you have a clone of the MacBook's drive on an external?

(And if not, why not?) ;)

You should really keep the disks that came with the computer, if any, and in a safe and easily-found place. Our MacBook Pro is a few months older, so maybe Apple doesn't even supply disks any more.

I expect someone can loan you install disks to restore the apps.
