Apple TV 4 and Closed Captioning

Post by Stephen Hart » Tue Apr 24, 2018 6:21 pm

I recently ran into a problem where my Apple TV 4 suddenly had the default for Closed Captioning switched to ON. But it gets worse. I couldn't turn it off. No matter what the preference said, any film with CC available showed the CC.

It turns out there was a tvOS update available, so I installed that and the problem went away. In the absence of a software update, it's possible that a reset would have worked too.
