Flash drives

I would like to get a couple of flash drives to use with my older MacBook Air. I know that the USB 3.0 drives are faster, but would there be any compatibility problem with my laptop?

Also... any suggestions on which brand to get? I've read several reviews, and would probably go with a Sandisk 64GB from what I've read. It would get minimal use.

I think the drives are downward compatible, so any current drive should work on an older MacBook. Of course, the speed of saving to or reading from the drive will be determined by the slowest link. My experience is that they are painfully slow compared to any other medium.
Costco has flash drives, usually. The two I have at the moment are SanDisk brand.

A possible alternative is some online storage service, such as iCloud. That could be a lot faster, depending on your internet connection speed.
