Ring tone

Post by davekob » Sun Dec 06, 2015 4:21 pm

I purchased a ringtone from Apple iTunes on my iPad. It downloaded but I can not get it to work. The tone is set for mail. How do I get it to work when I receive a message/email from the person. When I go into contacts it is shown as set for that person. I also did a sync on my computer.

If you look in iTunes, in the Tones tab, do you see the tone you bought? It should sync back to iTunes, even if you bought it on the iPad.

If you look in iTunes at your iPad, and click Tones, do you have Sync Tones checked?

On the iPad, look at Settings > Sounds > Ringtone, New Mail, etc.

Here's a SMUG thread I created on how to make your own ringtones. It's pretty old, so if you look at it and have any questions, ask here and I'll try to follow up.

Tones is one of the icons that you can have showing in the list at the upper left.

In my image, you can see Music, Movies, Podcasts, iTunes U, Audiobooks, Tones, Internet Radio and the ellipsis for More.
If it's not showing, click on the three dots (ellipsis) at the right end of the list and choose Tones.
