Has anyone followed this, and can you make suggestions? I'm on OS 10.6.8.
Thank you.

The issue has already been addressed in iOS and for Apple TV. Just update your devices and you're safe.
Apple will fix the issue in OS X pretty soon now, I assume.

Man in the middle attacks are always a threat, and there's constant surveillance for security holes to prevent them.

My understanding is that the reason this particular issue is getting press is that it was a fairly simple code error. But the computer press is always trying to go ballistic about any security flaw found in Apple's products. It's my opinion that they do this because such security flaws are exceedingly rare, compared to the issues with Windows and Android.

From that it seems that OS X versions below 10.9 are not affected.
It's not necessarily the case that any particular issue affects older OS X versions. If it does, and it's serious enough, Apple will probably patch those too.
I would say, however, that if you're concerned about security, you should be running the latest versions of OS X and iOS.
