iOS 13 - Feature List

Post by Ray Bentsen » Wed Jun 12, 2019 3:16 pm

Here is a list of some of the new features in iOS 13:
Dark Mode
Dark Mode introduces a beautiful dark color scheme so you get a great viewing experience, especially in low-light environments. It works with the apps that come with your iPhone and iPod touch, and with third- party apps. And it’s simple to turn on from Control Center or schedule for when you want to use it.

Photos and Camera
Get a curated view of your best moments from every day, month, and year. Photos intelligently hides similar photos, screenshots, and receipts, so you can focus on your best shots and rediscover past memories. A redesigned editing experience provides powerful new tools, more control, and video editing support. And with Camera, you can adjust the intensity of Portrait Lighting effects—including a new one, High-Key Mono.

Sign In with Apple
Quickly and easily sign in to apps and websites and protect your privacy. There’s no need to fill out forms or choose new passwords—just tap Sign In with Apple, and after a Face ID or Touch ID confirmation, you’re all set. Apps can only ask for your name and email address, and you can even create a unique email address that forwards to your real one.

Maps
A brand new map of the U.S. with more realistic details delivers a more realistic view. You can explore interactive, street-level 3D imagery with Look Around. And use Collections to share restaurants, travel destinations, or places to shop with friends and family.

Messages and Memoji
Automatically share your name and a photo or Memoji with the people you text. Share your mood with Memoji stickers using the QuickType keyboard in Messages and other apps. And customize your Memoji in fun new ways.

Reminders
Easily create and organize reminders with a completely rebuilt, more powerful Reminders app, which includes a new quick toolbar, smart lists, powerful Siri intelligence, and more.

Siri
Try a new voice for Siri that sounds more natural than ever. With SiriKit support for music, you can ask Siri to play songs and playlists through third-party apps on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and CarPlay. And because the Siri Shortcuts app is built into iOS and supports conversational shortcuts, Siri can ask you follow-up questions when you use a shortcut.

CarPlay
Keep track of your music, directions, and Siri suggestions with an all-new CarPlay Dashboard. And get a simple view of your day with the new Calendar app.

HomePod
HomePod can learn to recognize who’s speaking, so each family member has a personalized experience. You can also hand off your music, podcasts, and phone calls from your iPhone. And with live radio, you can ask Siri to play local stations or your favorites from around the world.

AirPods
Pair two sets of AirPods to one iPhone to share music and videos. And Siri can automatically read incoming messages as soon as they arrive—so you don’t have to reach for your phone.

Voice Control
Control your iOS devices with just your voice. With rich editing features, you can quickly make corrections as you dictate. Navigate comprehensively using voice commands and gestures. See numbers or names next to everything you can tap. And if there isn’t a control, you can place a grid onscreen and tap.

QuickPath keyboard
Type even more quickly with just one hand. Just swipe from one letter to the next without lifting your finger to enter a word, then let go to automatically enter a space and start the next word.

Text editing
Point at, select, and edit text using your fingers. Quickly scroll through long documents, websites, and emails by holding down the scrollbar and dragging to the bottom or top of the screen.

Files
Access, manage, and organize all kinds of files stored on external drives or SMB file servers right from the Files app. Easily share everything related to a project with iCloud Drive folder sharing. And try other new features like local storage and creating ZIP files.

Health
The information you care about most is highlighted, including a new way to track hearing health and a way for women to visualize and predict their menstrual cycles.

Location services
Use location privacy controls with more choices for how you share location data with apps, including a one- time location option and more information about when apps are using location in the background.

Augmented reality
With ARKit 3, AR apps can place virtual objects naturally in front or behind people and use human movement and poses for new and more immersive experiences.

Performance
Unlock iPhone up to 30 percent faster with Face ID. And apps will launch up to two times faster, App Store downloads will be up to 50 percent smaller, and app updates will be up to 60 percent smaller on average.
An old Norse adage: Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
