Importing CD's to macOS High Sierra iMac 10.13.3/Desk Top

Post by nolimits2me » Sat Mar 24, 2018 3:56 pm

I am trying to import CD's into iTunes. Cd goes in and about 15 seconds it comes back out. I am current on my updates.
I have the version iMac (21.5 - inch, late 2009 version) My ultimate goal I can listen to music to my iPhone from all CD'S I have.

Thanks,
Julie

It should work ... I just added a CD yesterday using High Sierra. I presume that you are importing commercial CDs. Right?

Does your iMac have a built-in optical drive, or is it an external drive? If external, it does need to be plugged into one of the rear USB ports.

Have you tried more than one CD? Maybe that first CD is damaged.

Are you sure you didn't put the CD in backwards?

My iMac has optical drive, I tried several different cd's. Also, I tested them on a different cd player and they play fine. No, I did not put in backwards :) .

Thanks

Are you still having problems? Does the Mac *play* the CDs

If it won’t play the CDs, I suspect a problem with the drive, especially given the age of the machine.

I think I posted on this before, but can't find the topic.

Our 2010 27" iMac had a bad internal disk player. I did a lot of searching and couldn't find a replacement.
Our 2014 27" retina iMac didn't come with a disk player.

So I bought an Apple USB SuperDrive for $79. It works perfectly, looks as if it belongs on the foot of my iMac, can be shared, can be switched to any Mac, etc.
