Energy Saver Prefs

Post by Stephen Hart » Sun Nov 23, 2014 2:10 pm

On my new riMac, I have different Energy Saver prefs than in the past.

For one, I can enable Power Nap, a good thing, I think.

I also have Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off. I've looked at a few sites, and conclude that when it says "prevent," it actually means "prevent." That is to say you'd only ever use this setting if the Mac needed to be awake for some activity that hadn't started yet. Sleep normally can't interrupt an ongoing activity, such as a download.

Apparently this also means that display sleep and Mac sleep are tied together.

(I don't set Start up automatically after a power failure because, especially in fall and winter, we have instances where we get power going off and then back on, then back off, etc.)
