Note that iWork apps for Mavericks will only open recent older versions of files.
You may want to keep iWork 09 on hand if you have older versions.

For example, the most recent SMUG roster I have is from 2008. To explore a problem recently, I wanted to open that file. Numbers 3 won't open it. But if I open it in Numbers 09 and save a copy, that file will open in Numbers 3.

If you have Numbers 09 on your Mac, Numbers 3 will ask you to open the older file in Numbers 09 and save it, so you don't have to do any conversions all at once.

iWork for Mavericks brought file-format parity to OS X and iOS. One obvious advantage is that you can now create a Pages document, password protect it, and edit on either platform while still retaining password protection. (See ... f=22&t=737, for example.)

But in getting the new apps out, some features weren't finished. Apple says they'll be back pretty soon now, along with new features: ... cale=en_US
