Save the Date: October 22

Post by Stephen Hart » Sat Oct 19, 2013 3:17 pm

Rumor sites say Mavericks is "expected" to be released on October 22, when Apple is holding a media event. Other possible announcements: next-generation iPads and iPad minis.

From Macintouch:
Mavericks will be distributed free of charge for all Mac users in a single-step upgrade, starting today (for compatible hardware).
But no instant gratification:

Mine says 1 hour 23 minutes.

30 minutes later...
now 52 minutes

I could get the updater downtown using someone's high speed connection and make an installer. I haven't looked to see if there are any new tricks for doing that with Mavericks.

I'm on nominal DSL, 1526/896 on a good day. None of that fancy cable up here. (Though there are rumors that CenturyLink will improve our DSL pretty soon now.)

Plus Apple has released updates for iLife and iWork and the relevant iOS apps and a new version of iOS 7.

Make a backup copy if you have multiple machines, OS X Mavericks gets downloaded to your Applications folder.
