What most of us think of text "styles", such as bold, italics, and underlining can be added to your posts, but in a way that is somewhat different than in most Mac applications.
In a forum text box, if you want to "stylize" a block of text, the text will need to surrounded by the appropriate "tags".
The easiest way to add the tags, is to first type all of your text, and then go back and add the tags. To do that, first select the text that you want "stylized", and then click on the appropriate gray style button above the text box. The beginning and ending tags will then be inserted. If you only want to "stylize" one word, you can simply double-click on it to select it. You won't actually see the style changes, however, until the post has been submitted.

Notice there is also a Drop Icon button for adding color to your text. After selecting the text you want colored, just click on the Drop Icon and then click on the color you want!
For fun, you can add a "Smilie" to a post by just clicking on the icons to the right of the text box.
