Re: Internet provider

I've never used them, being out of their territory, but have never heard anything bad about them. My understanding is that their specialty is wireless, so a real issue would be whether your location is accessible to their tower.

Fraction Math and Siri

I saw a tip in a recent Fine Homebuilding magazine about doing math on fractions. This is a common issue in woodworking, and there are physical and iOS fraction calculators that attempt to solve the problem. This woodworker's tip? Ask Siri! This allows the most natural input, and avoids touching you...

Re: Important Security Update

Security Update 2017-001 is now being installed automatically, even if you manually installed previously. It changes the High Sierra build number to 17B1003. This apparently fixes the file sharing issue and bypasses having to manually install. Apple's page on Security Update 2017-001: https://suppor...

Important Security Update

Apple has released an important security update to High Sierra, available through the Updates tab in the Mac App Store> Apple says "Install this update as soon as possible." It's quick to download and does not require a restart. Here's an article on the update , which was publicized Tuesday afternoo...

Re: Autocorrect bugs in iOS 11

I suspect this an innumeracy problem. Something like half a billion devices are running iOS 11, and a couple hundred users with a bug (the claim for the I.T. bug) is a tiny percentage. Still, Apple continues to fix those bugs.

Autocorrect bugs in iOS 11

Has anyone noticed either of the two autocorrect bugs in iOS 11?

I haven't been able to reproduce either one. It seems obvious that some errant entry in the user autocorrect dictionary is at fault, especially the latest: change "it" to "I.T.". But that would seem to be obviously fixable.

Here's more on Quicken.
They have gone to a subscription model. It's essentially the same price, but you're automatically paying for an update every year.
There's a $20 discount for the first year (2018).
