Re: Movie Recommendation: The Pixar Story

The movie doesn't touch on NeXT, the computer company* Jobs founded after he was ousted from Apple. But it does give some face time to Jobs, who invested $10 million of his own money in Pixar. He was very well rewarded for that investment. He talks a bit about the "second product" syndrome. Think Ap...

Movie Recommendation: The Pixar Story

I guess the Subject says it all.
I really enjoyed this 2008 documentary, and heartily recommend it to all SMUG members.

Available from Netflix Streaming.

Re: Internet Speed

There's a whole thread on that topic. Bottom line: you have a delete button until someone responds to your post or, maybe, until some time passes. I don't know if admins can delete a single message even if you, as the poster, can't. It's worth asking. http://www.straitmac.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=...

Re: Internet Speed

Taking your questions in backward order: The forum is new. None of the previous signees were transferred, so each SMUGger has to 1. discover that there's a new forum, 2. Register again. My DSL is nominally 1.5, and it works fine for Netflix streaming movies, even when I'm streaming with a wireless c...

Verizon iPhone update: 4.2.7

I have to say I'm feeling a bit left out. This is the second minor upgrade since 4.3 for AT&T iPhones only. All we Verizon customers get is the security updates and Apple rubs it in by not even changing the middle number! Security's better than nothing, but where's our Safari update, etc.? BTW, iTun...

More on links in forums

Forum Manager has posted basic instructions on how to add a URL, or hyperlink, to a post. Here are a couple of added tips. For a basic URL that's readable and clickable, all you need to do is copy the URL from wherever and paste it into your message. It's best to paste it on its own line, or otherwi...

Re: Sample Post

Now, is there a way a user can have a custom skin to this BB so we don't have to put up with all the goofy graphics. Looks like it was designed by a Windows user. I believe phpBB has " themes styles." As I recall, it's relatively easy to change from one theme style to another, but difficult to do m...

Re: Sample Post

Problem solved (sort of) A couple of seconds ago, when I wrote "So far, the only device I have that works with that link is a PowerBook G4 running Leopard," a little bell rang in my head. So I just set Safari to start in 32-bit mode (Quit Safari, select Safari in hard drive > Applications, Choose G...
