Re: Camera/Computer Cannot communicate

I'm going to ask a real basic question here so please don't get upset with me. Did you turn the camera ON before connecting the cable? Next, since you transferred your old stuff to your new Mac did you change from one OS to another? For example, did you go from Leopard to Snow Leopard? A newer OS ma...

Re: Camera/Computer Cannot communicate

I went to download my first little batch of pictures since I got my new computer. Surprise: Camera cannot seem to communicate with computer. No camera icon shows up. No offer of downloading to iPhoto the way I was used to. What do I do? We need a little more information. 1) What's the make and the ...

Re: Verizon Cell Phone Internet?

You're so right Jerry. I looked into satellite once, and not only was it expensive, but also the dish is huge, not at all like the current Dish Network TV dishes. And you need a location that looks southeast. That could require a pole or a roof mount, which may require special framing. An intel min...

Re: Verizon Cell Phone Internet?

Your friend needs to consider a satellite ISP. It's pricey compared to DSL or cable but that's about his only choice living in Joyce. There are two major satellite ISPs. HughesNet and WildBlue. HughesNet monthly rates start at $59.99 after the dish and modem are installed. I don't know what WildBlue...

GoodReader For iPhone (And iPad)

One of the best readers for .PDF and other text files is a freebie called GoodReader. It now has the ability to encrypt individual files offering more security than just the iPhone logon. There's also a version of GoodReader for the iPad.

Re: iPad Charging

Stephen Hart wrote:Note that Apple says the iPad will charge on low-power USB ports, but only when it's off or asleep. So seeing "No Charging" doesn't tell the whole story.
Come to think of it, I was syncing it with iTunes at the time so the iPads were on. Hmmmmmmm.

Re: iPad Charging

I tried plugging my iPad1 and iPad2 into a powered USB hub and it said NOT CHARGING on both units. So you have to be careful. But it's good to know that you can use the iPhone charger, even if it's slower. That means one less charger/cable to drag along when traveling. I can use the iPhone charger f...

Re: Movie Recommendation: The Pixar Story

I'm surprised more wasn't said about NeXT. Without that hardware and most especially the NeXT Unix based OS, Pixar wouldn't have been able to put the animation world on its ear. It takes serious computer power to do what modern computer based animation does, even with today's computers. When Pixar w...

Re: Movie Recommendation: The Pixar Story

Stephen, let me suggest you say a little something about the tangled web that includes Steve Jobs' NeXT computer, the NeXT OS, Pixar, the need for a new OS for the Mac, and Jobs return to Apple to make it what it is today.

This might stir more interest in this documentary.
