Printer connection problem

My old modem died, so I have a new one. My computers are successfully connected to the new modem. My Canon printer tells me it is connected to the modem. However, when I try to print something, I'm told the printer is off line. Is there something else I need to do to create this 3-way connection: co...

Re: Safari 6.1.1 bookmarks

Thanks, Steve. I see that if I use the "Add Bookmark" in the main menu that the window comes up. It used to come up simply b clicking on the + sign.

That helps a lot.

Safari 6.1.1 bookmarks

I am very frustrated with bookmarks in this version of Safari. We used to be able to give a name to a bookmark when we added it to our list. Now the only way I know to do that is through the Edit Bookmarks menu option. That's a cumbersome step. Is there an easier way? I've read lots of dissatisfacti...

Re: Very sick MacBook

My MacBook Air is healthy after a visit to the Genius Bar in Tacoma and a trip to Tennessee. Here is the info I was able to get about its problems: 1. Tacoma could not run diagnostics without the ability to restart the computer. The nonfunctioning power button was addressed there by replacing the en...

Re: Very sick MacBook

The computer charged the other day so I believe the power supply is okay. So long as the Air is plugged into the wall it continues to indicate that it is fully charged. Thanks for the offer, Steve, but my power supply does not look like yours. The screen is lighted but blank, and the power button is...

Re: Very sick MacBook

I have connected my two computers via firewire. However, I do not see how it is possible to use Target Disk Mode to diagnose the MacBook Air since I cannot reboot that computer. Am I correct about that?

Re: Very sick MacBook

I connect my backup drive via firewire, but I also have a USB connector. If I cannot restart my MacBook, how would I use Target Disk Mode?

Yes, I have 2+ years remaining on AppleCare.

Re: Very sick MacBook

I tried Jerry's suggestion of holding down the power button for 2 minutes - no luck. I have a firewire port, but current MacBooks are not listed as being able to be the Target computer. Could my iMac be the target and the MacBook the host? I also have a Thunderbolt port but no adapter. I've read abo...

Very sick MacBook

I have a 2012 MacBook Air which is completely unresponsive. I have a blank lighted screen with no sign of life anywhere. I cannot turn the computer off or reboot it. Here are the events leading up to this situation: Two weeks ago I decided to shut down the computer and recharge it. I could not resta...

Re: reformatting hard drive

find I DO have Snow Leopard installation disks. I just had to get the brain out of compartmentalized thinking.

Question: Should I reinstall the system that came with the computer and then upgrade or can I just install Snow Leopard? I presume I do this by starting up from the CD system disk.

Thanks.
