Re: 10.6 and the 2012-001 Security Update

Is it safe to download the security update 2012-001 now for users of Snow Leopard? My greatest fear is my wife is using an old-old version of Microsoft Word X for Mac which I think is about the 2001 time period. It will be a disaster, for her, if it should stop working right now. This would not a go...

Re: ZeoBIT / MacKeeper

Just had an issue with Mail today in Snow Leopard. It showed as being open in the dock, but it was not on the screen. When I got it on the screen by using the menu bar it was all weird; it looked like a log file. I restarted (rebooted) and everything was fine. I have solved some weird Word problems,...

Re: AppleCare Servers Fail - check Your AppleCare

Do I care unless I am in need of a repair and it is covered by a current Apple Care?

Re: Playing with Refining Finder

It is in Finder Preferences and not in System Preferences. In the Finder Menu line, at the top or the screen, click on Finder and drop down to Preferences and then click on the Sidebar tab that shows in the window.

Re: Printer Recommendations

Since this thread has been reopened. I have used Epson almost exclusively and have been pleased with their performance. I am presently using an Epson Stylus CX4200 all-in-one machine. Jeanne, on this machine there is a "color management' or ColorSync" control to adjust the color settings in the prin...

If you are just editing audio extracted from video; I use GarageBand to edit the sound track (music).

Do you know Teri? If not, then I would be very cautious and not go there. If you know her, give her a call and ask how she requested to be your friend.

Re: A little sympathy for our Windows to Mac switching frien

It works the other way also. When I am visiting family and I have to use their Windows machines I come away with the same type of frustrations. This doesn't make sense! Mac does it this way much better, etc., etc. I don't get any sympathy from them. "Why do you keep buying those expensive Macs", etc...

Re: Apple releases Mac OS X 10.6.8

Just successfully downloaded/installed 10.6.8 and Java update via "Apple>Software Update" onto a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo purchased late 2009. Everything seems to be working fine. I quickly tested my old printer and it still works. My old Microsoft Office Mac X suite still works.
