Re: Global Mac Trojan Attack - What you need to know

I just now tried the link and it went through fine. I also tried Stephen's link and it worked. I don't know why it didn't work before. I had actually tried it earlier when Richard first posted it and it wouldn't work. I don't think it was Olypen (my ISP) messing up as I was online to other sites dur...

Re: Global Mac Trojan Attack - What you need to know

Richard, I can't get this link to go anywhere. I have tried selecting it directly in your message and by copying and pasting the URL into my Camino browser. It always times out and doesn't come up with anything. I am using Tiger and from the discussions I have been reading I am vulnerable because Ap...

Re: SD Card Question

With my old MacBook Pro, running Tiger, when I read an SD card it opens in Image Capture and then I can tell it whether I want it to go to iPhoto or someplace else. Is Image Capture still around in Lion?

Re: Download Library books to computer

Is this something we could do as a SMUG project? Like, create a petition, letter, e-mail campaign, etc to NOLS to get them to make it more Mac friendly. Oops! I just re-read this thread and I see Jerry already mentioned involving the club, except time limitations keep getting in the way. If somethin...

Re: Download Library books to computer

You could partition the drive and install Windows and read the library books using the Window OS. This means having to boot into the Windows side of the partition each time, but that doesn't take much effort. However, it does mean you have to purchase Windows.

Re: 10.6 and the 2012-001 Security Update

Thanks guys. Obviously I need to get a copy of SuperDuper and/or CCC. I am not in too bad of shape. Most files are backed up and I have original installation disks. However, it would be better to have a clone, immediately.

Thanks for the tutorial.

Re: 10.6 and the 2012-001 Security Update

Thanks Richard. You are correct, if the internal HD goes south I am in a big world of hurt. In my mind I wouldn't think it would. I think what you said about the copy of the internal HD being plain vanilla vs. being bootable may be the issue. I am holding off to see if Stephen or David H. weighs in ...

Re: 10.6 and the 2012-001 Security Update

I'm not talking about Super Duper. I asking can I drag the Mac Icon that is normally in the upper right corner of the screen onto the external hard drive. The Mac drive (internal drive-top right corner) contains everything doesn't it. The system folder is there (isn't that where the OS resides?), th...

Re: 10.6 and the 2012-001 Security Update

Can I just drag the internal hard drive icon onto the external drive icon? Doesn't that give me everything and is a bootable drive?

Re: 10.6 and the 2012-001 Security Update

Stephen, I like your idea of cloning to an external drive. I know I have seen several articles/posts on how to clone, but can you quickly tell me how to do that. I don't have any third party (carbon cloner-or something like that I've seen named) software that does that. I only have my Mac things. I ...
