Malware

How do you determine if malware has been installed on a computer and how do you clear it off?

I am on an old computer running Snow Leopard, 10.6.8.

Re: Safe Finder, Safari problems

Stephen, You may have answered why I have the warning; I am using an old-old system. I use Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 and Safari version 5.1.10. My old computers just keep working and I am maxed out on what versions I can use. The fact that it says it hasn't updated in 88 days, to me says, Google just rec...

Re: Safe Finder, Safari problems

I just checked my Safari preferences>security>fraudulent sites and I also have the yellow warning triangle and it say,s "The Google Safe Browsing Service is unavailable. No updates have occurred in 88 days." Why do I have the warning? I have never seen anything pop up about Safe Finder on my compute...

Re: Charging a Fitbit

The moderator says, "....an approved USB charger with a 5.0V @ 1.0A output, it will work ..". My iphone charger says it is 5V @ 1.0A output which confirms your 5W comment. If I remember correctly, Watts equals Volts multiplied by Amps which matches 5V x 1A = 5W. So, it looks like the iphone charger ...

Charging a Fitbit

This is sort of Mac related as my Fitbit Alta HR syncs with my iPhone. The Alta comes with a USB connector on one end of the charging cable. I know, and have charged it by plugging it into the USB slot on my MacBook Pro. My question is: Can the Alta be charged (safely) by connecting the USB connecto...

Formatting a flash drive

I am confused about which formatting format to use in setting up a new flash drive. I am reading conflicting reports about using the MS-DOS (FAT) vs Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. I have some old flash drives that are formatted as MS-DOS(FAT) and they seem to work fine. I read an article where ...

Re: Add a mailbox or folder

Thanks Ray. I suspected this might be the case. I do have a POP olypen account. If I remember correctly this is because of the way my wife and I share the account and how the messages remain/stay available for each of us to see/read them on our various devices. I will check with olypen if I decide t...
