Re: Stolen computers

How sad. I hope they get some interest from the police. Likely the iMacs are out of the state by now.

Re: Pages for iPhone?

For what it's worth, Pages for iPhone has a rather lame implementation of password protection of documents. To import a password protected Pages document from iTunes, you need to enter the password. But once it's on the iPhone, there's no password protection. GoodReader is still the app to us...

Re: iCloud

I think one of the main things I might have used Dropbox for will be in Documents in the Cloud: syncing certain documents between my Mac and my iPhone. It remains to be seen if those can be password protected documents, but I'd be willing to bet they will. Note that we now have Pages on the Mac, the...

Re: iCloud

Apple's posted a FAQ on iCloud. http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html The loss of iWeb publishing will be a big deal to some, but you can use iWeb to publish to any server, for example the free server space all ISPs provide. No word yet from Apple on whether iWeb will be developed any more. ...

Re: Apple releases Mac OS X 10.6.8

There is some discussion on MacInTouch about older programs (games for one) not running after upgrading to 10.6.8. One person was speculating that Apple was getting folks prepared for Lion and the 10.6.8 system won't run the old things that were using Rosetta in 10.6.7. Has anyone experienced this ...

Re: Apple releases Mac OS X 10.6.8

Everything fine here too, unless you count the molten aluminum dripping from the back of my iMac. And a few flames.

Re: PDF

So, the answer is: when the blank pdf page opens, I can save it to the desktop and then open it with adobe reader. Once upon a time, I didn't have to do this; the page would open in the browser. I don't know what's changed. Sorry, guys, no free hugs this time. First, the blank page you see is a bla...

Re: PDF

The Safari Downloads window only shows recent downloads if you haven't cleared the window with the Clear button on the bottom of the window. The Downloads window can also be set to automatically clear after successful downloads. Don't confuse the Safari Downloads window with the Downloads folder, a ...

Re: PDF

Two things: 1. A lot of web sites set up download links so that they simultaneously start a download and present a blank page. That's a byproduct of a common mistake in setting up the download link. I suggest you check your designated download folder. You might have to check in the browser to see wh...

Re: Confirmed: Verizon to end unlimited data plans next mont

Something I don't get here. AT&T offers a small-amount limited data plan for $15/month, which a lot of customers are fine with, and a large-amount plan for $30/month. Is this saying that Verizon will merely cap their $30/month plan and not offer any plan that could actually save money? Sounds like a...
