Alderwood Mall Apple Store Update

Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood, Wash. will halt operations on Feb. 25. Apple hasn't confirmed any other details beyond saying it wants to make the locations "even lovelier."
Apparently for upgrade and maybe expansion.

Music Player on Lock Screen

Occasionally, I find the music player stays on my lock screen when nothing's playing. Force quitting the relevant app only changes the player to a generic "iPhone Music" player control. Shutting down and restarting my iPhone X fixes the problem. Starting and pausing some audio does not make the play...

Re: Enthusiast iPad Pro 10.5

I forgot to mention that we also use the iPad Pro to stream Apple Music to our living room stereo AirPort Express.

Re: Enthusiast iPad Pro 10.5

We recently converted a large folder of recipes (with many subfolders) to Pages (and some PDFs) and keep the folder in iCloud. That way we have recipes available in the kitchen for instant referral and, importantly, modification. Previously the recipes, accumulated over decades, were in a hodgepodge...

Re: Argg Moving Folder/Files from iCloud Failure

Coincidentally, I've been trying to get the photo ID in Merlin to download. It keeps failing. Maybe I need to try somewhere where I have high-speed WiFi. Not a blog, but all about local (ish) natural history: http://onh.eugraph.com Also, our iPad Pro (the original one) has completely replaced our Ma...

Re: Argg Moving Folder/Files from iCloud Failure

Any chance you put Downloads in iCloud? Here are two published ways to get around the fact that macOS protects the Downloads folder: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/270227/how-to-sync-an-additional-folder-to-icloud-drive-similar-to-how-macos-sierra-doe https://www.guidingtech.com/60295/aut...

Re: Argg Moving Folder/Files from iCloud Failure

If you select iCloud Drive in your Finder window Favorites section, you can manipulate files on iCloud. Just drag to your desktop or another folder. See screenshot, but ignore the arrow's destination on the desktop. This works for me. [Later] I just noticed that you say you have your desktop on iClo...

Re: Finder has pinwheel of death

However, I just ran a test. I opened an external drive, navigated to a jpg image in a folder and dragged it to a new email message in Mail. No problem. (I can't duplicate your exact situation, as my external is a Time Machine drive.) So is there any difference for you if you drag and drop an image f...

Re: Finder has pinwheel of death

Try dragging the image first to your desktop--so it moves from your external drive to your internal drive.
Then drag it to Mail.

Or try using the Share button in Photos, as I described above.
