Re: What's New in iWork v7.0

Pages now has enhanced ebook capabilities. It's not up to the level of iBooks Author, but it can export epub files with more features. Maybe Apple will gradually add all of iBooks Author's features to Pages.

Re: Pop-ups? Anti-virus apps?

on-line update of our modem What does that mean? The only thing you can do to a modem (I'm assuming you mean a DSL "modem") is update the firmware. And no one can do that online unless you give them your modem's password. Which you should never do. Is it possible you downloaded and installed some n...

Re: Maps

the Rolling Stones sounded great! I was just listening to Apple Music's Stones Essentials a few evenings ago. OTOH, we have four-foot-tall Speakerlab corner horns, and no near neighbors. :) I wonder if Apple will either make or license the technology to someone who can make an active passover for o...

Re: Maps

Apple has a standard charge ($99) for replacing a user-damaged iPhone. I'm not sure if that means you get a refurbished replacement or a new one. AppleCare+ includes two incidents of accidental damage coverage. You can use an incident for screen repair or for other damage to your iPhone. Each incide...

Time Machine problem solved

We have two iMacs backing up to Time Machine drives attached to one of the iMacs. The remote iMac should see these drives as network drives. Whenever I've added a new drive to my Time Machine backup set of two, I have a hard time getting a remote iMac to see the drive. I can even mount the drive in ...

SPAM/Phishing, Again

I've been getting a few of these every day for a while. They're designed to look like Apple mail, and have legitimate email addresses.
I haven't followed any links, but they look like advertising spam, rather than phishing attempts.

Beware.

Re: Numbers issue

That may be an issue with how the website codes their "Download" option. Many such links open a new page, even if they are labeled "Download." This happens to audio and pdfs too. Try this: Control click or right click on the download button (or link) and choose one of the Download options from the d...

Recently, I figured out I can use text replacement to quickly entry of symbols. ⌘ ↑ ← and the like.
How did you set this up?

Control Click in Finder Window

I've seen this a few times:

Control click in a Finder window to get the contextual menu stops working. It works elsewhere.

Just now I found that if I switched the window from column view to icon view control click worked.
But then when I switched back to column view, control click worked again.
