Re: Why am I continually getting this message?

It continues to baffle me. The iCloud Drive options are trivial and have nothing to do with the account management. I've logged in and out of iCloud multiple times. Each time you log out, iCloud removes all your iCloud files and materials from your Mac, then when you log in again, it reloads them. I...

Re: Automatic opening of attachments.

Hmm... I guess I had not thought about that. You're right that most people create a PDF document by simply "saving as PDF." In other words, they don't create it using Acrobat Pro where all those settings are right at hand. And I also guess that the default setting used in "Save as PDF" is that the d...

Re: Automatic opening of attachments.

I am glad that Stephen clarified the issue of saving documents and how to open them. However, with due respect to my esteemed colleague, I must disagree on his assertion that "Office documents" are insecure. This is not true. Office documents can be password protected to open or modify through a ver...

Re: Why am I continually getting this message?

Where it says "Open iCloud Preferences" to fix this... I see nothing to correct or fix. I've logged in and logged out multiple times. What else can I change??

Why am I continually getting this message?

This pops up a few times every day. I have no idea what it means or why I'm seeing this. I don't need or want iCloud but I have turned on the things you see checked here (and a few more that are off to the bottom of the scrolling list). The computer, my mail, the web, etc. is doing everything it's s...

Re: Backing up iPhoto library

Well just thank your lucky stars, Jay. One of our club members (who will remain nameless) feared he might lose his iPhoto library. So he backed it up. And then backed it up again. And then again. And again. I'm not sure how he managed to do this, but each of his backups actually duplicated all the p...

Re: How do I change the DPI to 300 for a photo to be mailed

The question also raises the point that some photos may not have been taken at 300 dpi, which is a pretty high resolution image. For someone new to the whole issue of scaling and photo resolution, this may be introducing more complication than you want to hear right now. If the whole goal of the 300...

Re: DiskWarrior 5

Thanks very much, Stephen, you have now clearly explained all. I will reformat the drive into several partitions and then take it from there. It's nice to have an extra hard drive with plenty of room to fool around with (and it doesn't matter if the whole thing crashes anyway....)

Re: DiskWarrior 5

OK... you still have to answer my original question. I have this hard drive from an old laptop. It's a SATA drive, I believe, in a small enclosure (I think from OWC) with a USB 3 connector (not Firewire). I downloaded a new copy of Yosemite to my MacBookPro which created the "Install Yosemite" app i...
