Re: PDF

Do your browsers open files of other file types? And if so -- where do the actual files appear after you close them? For many folks, this location will by default be in a "Downloads" folder.

Re: Rotate Mail Attachment

I think that Jay's comment should fix the situation (i.e., "Save As"). The only thing I can imagine why this didn't work in your first case was that you somehow did not actually "Save" the rotated picture or that you accidentally used the original instead of the saved one. Once "saved" an altered im...

Re: Office For Mac 2011 Uninstall Video

I find this whole discussion both pathetic and comical. Here's another good one. When you do Microsoft Office updates, the updater at one point in the process sends up a message that says that you have to quit "Application Microsoft Updater." How pathetic is that?? The world's largest, richest, most...

Re: Office 2011 Problem

Events may have already bypassed this need but... it also occurs to me that we should have suggested that you "Force Quit" Office when the problem first arose. It would have been the thing to Force Quit, then reboot the computer, then try the whole thing again. You may have seen this little haiku: C...

Re: Simple Network Download Question

The question is how to know where the slowdowns occur. I will try TraceRoute but the bottom line is that it is a complicated beast showing a lot of details about all the various nodes in a message's journey from Point A to Point B. Stephen's comments about things going on in your own computer furthe...

Re: Office 2011 Problem

Your second note here reveals a situation that you did not explain in your first! Your first posting implied that you had just installed MS Office 2011. I see now that you already had that installed and what you were apparently doing was some update. It would be helpful for us to know what sort of L...

Re: Office 2011 Problem

Hmm, that sounds nasty. By complete chance, I too just installed Office 2011 this evening. (But my installation has so far run smoothly and without a hitch so far, knock on wood). So the question is how to troubleshoot this. I have heard cases in the past where corrupted fonts, or even a single bad ...

Re: Simple Network Download Question

So you're suggesting that TraceRoute is the tool of choice? And will I be able to understand which of the various "nodes" of the complete circuit (from the sender thru the ISP to me) is which? A tiny more of an example would help me because I've tried this before and not understood the results. Also...

Simple Network Download Question

I have a very simple question for all you networking geeks. Should be simple anyway. Tell me this.... Sometimes I begin to download a file which Safari's "Download Progress" window shows as coming down at me at 600-700/Kbs. I think that's pretty fast. But over the next 2-3 minutes while the file is ...
