iOS 5 Camera and Photos features

If you use your iPhone (iPod Touch or iPad) as a camera, you should read the following MacWorld article describing some of the new iOS 5 camera-related features: http://www.macworld.com/article/160501/2011/06/ios5camerafirstlook.html#lsrc.nl_mwiphone_h_cbstories I especially like the ability to use ...

Re: Aperture vs. iPhoto Question

Description field. Not useless in iPhoto 9, but asymptotically approaching useless. I need to see a whole description field, and need to be able to do normal copy, paste, delete, etc. easily. As mentioned in my last demo, iPhoto '11 has an improved photo description field. Although only two lines o...

Re: Pages for iPhone?

All of the iWork apps for iPad became universal a few weeks ago, so now Pages, Numbers, and Keynote can now be used on both an iPad and an iPhone with a single purchase. If you had been at the SMUG meeting on June 1, I actually mentioned that my entire Keynote slideshow (including embedded .mp4 movi...

Re: Bento Problem

The only thing I can think of is that possibly you did make a backup at some time ... and if so, your data could be restored as shown below.

Re: Printing Question: Scaling

At least in my iPhoto '11 print dialog box, I am able to change the Print size to 8x10 (see screenshot).

That reduces the image size just enough so that nothing gets cropped when the page is printed.

Hope that helps,
;)

Re: iTunes 10.3: Browse iBooks

Below is a screenshot of the iTunes 10.3 "Purchased" screen. This particular list shows the tracks that have been purchased using my Apple ID, but are not currently in my iMac's library ... along with the option to download them. Some of these music items were purchased from my wife's iMac and other...

Re: I should ask a third grader, right?

A few more answers: Facetime only works when both parties are using either a Mac, and iPhone, or an iPod Touch. So, for example, if one of the parties is using a PC, then Skype would be the better bet. Skype for iPhone can be downloaded for free from the iTunes Store. Both parties will also need a f...

Re: iCloud

Now, what I'm being presented with is a service that makes sure that when I listen to music (or, presumably, iTunes U lectures, etc.) I'm paying for download time from AT&T or Verizon. Remember that streaming means that you're downloading constantly. As far as I understand the iCloud service, you w...

MobileMe and the Transition to iCloud

What's happening to MobileMe? Effective June 6, 2011, if you had an active MobileMe account, your service has been automatically extended through June 30, 2012, at no additional charge. After this, the MobileMe service will no longer be available. What will happen to the content I have on MobileMe?...

Re: iPad: Log in?

I think the most straight-forward approach would be for you to set up an Apple ID in her name. In that way apps can be purchased from the iTunes Store and books from the iBooks Store without a problem. Her Apple ID will also be needed to update all the apps on that device. You, as well as other rela...
