Did you try New York Times video? I've got another half hour to wait for Sierra (after an all-night download). I didn't update Safar...

Yup, no problems here either with the download, install, and the use of installed programs. But the download is 4.6GB is size so depending on the speed of your I'Net connection it might be easier letting it download overnight and then do the install the following morning.

I haven't downloaded the new macOS yet (Sierra) but I did download the new version of Safari (v10.0) which is recommended for users of macOS El Capitan (v10.11.x). The new Safari is suppose to have some security updates as well as run videos in HTML5 whenever possible avoiding Flash and all it's pro...

Hold down the Home button and the screen lock button at the same time. (The screen lock button is sometimes called on/off.) This forces the iPad to restart, just as if you'd used the slide to power off button. This is what's called a hard boot for an iPad. You'll need to hold both buttons simultane...

I tried that but it doesn't cause the problem the OP has. I created a new folder on the desktop labelled Desktop and when I opened it it was empty as it should have been even though I keep several files on my desktop for easy access.

Easier than that is to RIGHT CLICK on the desktop and a menu will pop up with an option to create a new folder. LEFT CLICK that option and you're done.
