Re: Internet Speed

Bob, I have the Qwest DSL 1.5 service. When I stream a Netflix movie it takes less than 30 seconds to buffer and start the movie. After that it just runs. But this has been for SD movies. I haven't tried a HD yet.

Re: Sample Post

The theme we selected was a compromise. I liked this one for its Armageddon look.

Whereas Ray liked this one because it touched something deep inside him.

I guess no one really likes a compromise.

Re: Log in Automatically?

Well, I think I have the answer to the DELETE issue. We all need to remember that this software has a really good FAQ section, something JForum didn't have. So I went to the FAQ and read about editing and deleting a post. It seems that phpBB3 will only let you edit a limited number of times and you ...

Free And Almost Free Software For Your Mac

Here are the links to the freebies I presented at the October, 2010 SMUG meeting demo. I haven't included the links to the commercial applications such as Microsoft Office as I'm sure you'll be able to find these on your own. App Tamer http://www.stclairsoft.com/AppTamer/index.html Calibre http://ca...

This may be an important clue. I like empirical tests.

Re: Log in Automatically?

OK, Ray and I have been emailing each other and it turns out there is a bug. As much as I hate to admit it to anyone, especially Jerry Freilich I guess I was wrong. Yes, there are different classifications of users. Ray has the Administrator's rank and I'm a mere Moderator. In the past, general memb...

Re: Log in Automatically?

Auto Log-in is NOT working for me. Although this is not a big issue it is a minor annoyance. I think we should use this as a quick test of our new board-hosting service. It should be a straight-forward issue and I don't see why it should be difficult to solve. I am also interested why Jay's configu...

Re: Log in Automatically?

When I first checked the forum this morning, I had to log in again, but now I'm staying logged in. I may have caused that by trying out being logged in on both the iPhone and the iMac. I could have sworn I saw a delete key on my posts yesterday, but I don't now. The "Keep Logged In" option is only ...

Nifty Complement To SmartCover

Although Apple's new SmartCover for iPad2 has some great features, it offers no protection for the back of the iPad. XGear has released a nifty product called SmartCover Enhancer. It's a thin but very robust molded plastic cover for the back of the iPad and it doesn't interfere in any way with the S...

Re: Log in Automatically?

In Safari, have you gone to Preferences and given Safari permission to save and automatically load usernames and passwords? By default this option is OFF. If you turn it on, the first visit to a website will elicit a drop down box asking you if you want to save your username and password. If you cli...
