A battery causing problems?

Can a swollen battery cause software problems? I recently paid my first visit to the Apple store at University Village in Seattle. The reason was to get my older white MacBook up and running again. That computer had worked without a problem for over four years. I recently took a five-week trip to Eu...

Re: Playing DVD's through a mac to a TV

Yes, it is necessary to organize photos into albums. I have done it simply by having a separate album for each day of our trip. The albums contain both stills and videos. When doing a slide show, I can set the amount of time for each photo to be shown. When a video file comes along it is played in i...

Playing DVD's through a mac to a TV

Playing DVD’s through a laptop I bought a dozen DVD’s during a recent trip to Denmark, and had looked forward to seeing them when I got home. I knew nothing about “Regions”, but found out when I tried to play the first DVD. My TV would not play them. I soon learned about regions, and also found out ...

Re: Traveling with a laptop- questions

I have never been asked to turn a computer on. But I have normally taken it out of its bag, and they do run it through the machine. I will certainly have it shut down while going through check-in. I will most likely just read a book. On the other hand, when everyone else takes out their klunky Dells...

Re: Traveling with a laptop- questions

Thanks for the tips. Yes, it is easy to turn off Bluetooth. Click on the icon at the top right and then click on “Turn off Bluetooth”. If you have a Bluetooth mouse it will no longer work. Use the track pad to turn it on again. Normally the mouse will activate again within a few seconds. To turn Wi-...

Traveling with a laptop- questions

I was just wondering what others might have experienced while traveling abroad with their laptops (or similar devices). I was in Denmark in 2008, and I wanted to buy mobile broadband for my my laptop (macbook). At that time, in order to buy mobile broadband, I had to have proof of permanent residenc...

Re: keystroke delay

Thanks for the advice. Nothing is wrong with my Mac. It is running really well. I only had that one problem, and that seems to be gone! If it is not necessary to quit apps then I won't bother. Maybe I was just being overcautious. I will be taking my Mac on a 5 week trip to Europe, and now I feel con...

Re: keystroke delay

Thanks for all of the advice. It works!! I also spent hours today Googling this problem, and it was apparent that it has been a real headache for many people. I did as first suggested: I removed both iTunes Helper and AdobeResourceSynchronizer from the list of login items. I rebooted, and those item...

Re: keystroke delay

Thanks for the tip. I will try that and report back as soon as I have given it a thorough run. I don't know either why that is running. I have Acrobat Pro X, but it is not something I use every day. I do normally open pdf's in Acrobat, and not the Reader. I will report back.

Re: keystroke delay

Yes, when I notice the delay it is as I type. I can be typing away, and then look up and see the characters pop up, well after the keystroke. I guess I should be thankful I am not a speed typer, or this would be extremely aggravating. It is not happening right now as I type this, but it is more prev...
