Re: Dead Laptop??

The power supply is fine. The power plug lights up normally. The MacBook Pro shows its sleep/awake light on the front edge (light is on, and turns off when I hold down the power button to turn off the machine. When I push the power button to turn it on, it clicks and hums, as it normally would, but ...

Re: Dead Laptop??

I've tried the forced restart as you suggested several times, but the screen is still black. It was not plugged into an external monitor or wall power. The laptop was asleep and unplugged just overnight after being used, plugged in to wall power all evening.

Dead Laptop??

I always keep my MacBook Pro on "sleep," and when I got up this morning, it wouldn't wake up. The screen is black. When I push the "start" button, it makes a little noise (normal) and the little white light on the latch button at the front of the keyboard lights up. But I don't hear the hard drive s...

Re: Posting large files

You guys are wonderful! Thank you so much. I love you all!!! I recall Richard Serkes recommending Dropbox at one of our meetings last year, and it sounded very cool. But it was just one of the many things I never got around to. So, at your suggestion, I decided to give Dropbox a try for this project...

Re: Posting large files

Lots of interesting possibilities here from you wonderful computer geeks. Thanks for your time and efforts in trying to educate me. But I think all of your suggestions would require more time than I'm willing to devote to this task. (I'm pretty far back on the learning curve.) I really don't need or...

Re: Posting large files

Jay's idea sounded quick and easy, so I gave it a try. Unfortunately I got an error message saying that I couldn't upload the file because it is not a video file. I really don't want to force people into downloading a file that large to their computers. I'm with Olypen, but I've never set up a web p...

Posting large files

On my computer, I have a 25mb audio file of a one hour KONP interview I did last September. Several people would like to listen to this file, but apparently it is no longer available in KONPs archives. Where can I upload this file so that others can access it? The thought of doing this hadn't occurr...

Time Capsule?

After listening to Richard Serkes preach to me about backing up for the last few years, I’ve decided that I finally have to do it before catastrophe greets me one morning. I’m thinking of buying Time Capsule to use with Time Machine. I’ve read the info on the Apple website, and it seems as though it...

Re: Safari (?) problem

Been using Firefox for 3 days now, and I like the speed (as mentioned by others in the Firefox thread.) But I'm finding the same issue. So far, only when I'm on my MIniClip game. First, there's a "glitch" in the game which hangs it up (both for my and my opponent.) I have to exit MiniClip, and then ...

Re: Safari (?) problem

Here's the current status: I reset Safari, and the situation seemed to improve. But the problem still existed when I played my favorite MiniClip game, so I assumed a Flash conflict of some sort. Today, I downloaded Firefox and updated the Flash plug-in for it. We'll see what happens. Of course, now ...
