Re: Customizing Login Screen

I used this once on a MacBook that was, in fact, stolen from our house near PA. A week or so later, I got a call from a computer store in California, where a young man was trying to sell the MacBook. I told the clerk to call his local police, explained that the MacBook was stolen. I also notified ou...

Another Apple Scam

This phishing attempt is new to me, but apparently has been noticed by others previously. Of course, none of the links are real, except for my own email address. If you get email that's designed to look like it's from Apple, here's a page on how to report it: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204759...

iOS 12.0.1

iOS 12.0.1 fixes some issues a few iPhone XS users have seen:
Some users' iPhone XS models were reconnecting to WiFi at a slower speed than the fastest available.
Some users' iPhone XS models did not start charging when plugged in if they were asleep when plugged in.
And a couple of other minor fixes.

Re: Safari and Favicons

A little more on this process... Here's the web site I used to create the .ico format necessary for web sites: http://www.favicon.cc/ This web page mentions the hidden formats Apple's Preview can create. Unfortunately, Preview in Mojave does not include the .ico format. https://coderwall.com/p/89p9k...

Safari and Favicons

Safari 12, included in Mojave, but also available as an update, now has the ability to show favicons in tabs. Favicons are those tiny icons to the left of a URL, the ones you can drag to the desktop to save a web location file. Many sites have custom icons. I noticed recently that my own domain, eug...
