Apple after iPhone

My son, Robbie sent this to me. I had to watch it twice to see Apple pop up out of nowhere. (Robbie's work is involved with data visualization.) This has been going around the data-visualization internet, cool both because of the graphical display but also the explosion of Apple after iPhone. I don’...

Apple FaceID Ad

Here's a clever ad from last year that plays on lots of Hitchcock and noir movie tropes:

Re: Co-joined iPhones and Lost Contacts Data

I posted here about the procedure we followed to successfully share a single Contacts list. http://www.straitmac.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2553&p=8946&hilit=Contacts#p8946 But you seem to be reporting a problem that comes from sharing contacts: when a contact is deleted from one iPhone, it disa...

How to trace an image with your Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro

https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/03/01/how-to-trace-an-image-with-your-apple-pencil-on-the-ipad-pro----and-when-not-to Note that in many apps, you can also trace by viewing an image--say a photo--and draw on a different layer. That way you can vary the transparency as needed. I've done a little ...

Re: Finder Link to Item in Books.app

Why not just have a duplicate of the file on the Desktop ... and not mess with an alias? Actually, I only discovered that there was an issue because I tried using aliases instead of duplicates. I suppose in cases where you might want to highlight or otherwise modify the file, a duplicate would conf...

Re: Finder Link to Item in Books.app

I think I was wrong about this. Apparently something causes Preview to duplicate the pdf file, even when opened in Books.app.

Maybe I inadvertently modified the file.

Finder Link to Item in Books.app

I'd like to have a link in a Finder folder to a pdf in my Books.app library. I can find the pdf file here: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBooks and make an alias to put in the Finder folder. (I can also just search in the Finder for the filename.) But then it gets comp...

Re: 2018 Mac Mini RAM upgrade

I am of the "spray and pray" philosophy of photography Another way to put this is "I shoot like a professional photographer." National Geographic wildlife photographers may take 10,000 shots to get half a dozen in a published article. (Even in the era of film.) My current cameras, Panasonic Lumix F...
