Re: Mac adware cleaner keeps appearing

I think this is not an adware cleaner, this is adware.
Other SMUG members may have suggestions on how to fix this. I haven't encountered such things.

Re: Updates available install on restart?

I guess it means I cannot restart my computer without first checking app store. What if I shut down my computer? When I start up again does that tell updates to install? Related question: Are the updates available always related only to items already on my computer? e.g..: Might it give me availabl...

If you click in any part of the notification except the Restart or Later buttons, it will open the Mac App Store. If you then quit, it won't bug you about the update for a while.

Re: Updates available install on restart?

That's a problem in macOS. It's a Notification. If you accept the Notification, you assume App Store will download and install the update. What I always want is the choice: Show Details in App Store. Re: Upgrade and Quicken Essentials

We have used Quicken for ages, and continue to use it in High Sierra, Quicken 2017. Unfortunately, this is the last version that will be sold as a stand-alone app. It's now subscription only. That's not necessarily bad, or out of reach financially, but it is a bit annoying. Quicken 2017 is still bei...

Re: Pages '09 function in El Capitan?

People have said, and I think it's mostly correct, never to upgrade anything in the middle of a project. And I think you are right to duplicate one of your big documents and then test in the current Pages. One thing: it sure looks like Apple is actively updating and improving Pages (as well as Numbe...

Re: Freeing up Storage- Email

If you are mostly concerned about mail on your iPhone or iPad, there's one easy way to deal with it: Don't keep mail on those devices in the first place. If you set up Rules in Mail on your Mac, you can move messages off of iCloud and on to your Mac permanently. Then they'll disappear on your iOS de...

Re: Pages '09 function in El Capitan?

I should have asked before: what are the specific issues that make you want to stick with Pages '09?
